About Me
Football field maintenance

When I tell people that I'm the landscaper who looks after our team's football field they are really impressed, and a little jealous. I don't think they know how much work it is though - it's definitely trickier than keeping your backyard looking green. Not only does my football field need to look lush, it also needs to be perfectly even so that the ball doesn't bounce at crazy angles, and not so soft that the players boots sink in. I need to keep up with all of the latest tricks that landscapers have, and I write these up here so that everyone can give them a try on their own fields.

Green Outdoor Spaces Means Smiling Employee Faces: Why Creating an Outdoor Space for Staff Boosts Productivity

Brad Craig

Companies today benefit from the slew of new technologies designed to increase efficiency and productivity. However, whilst focusing on technology, it is easy to overlook the human element of your business, i.e. your staff. While it is important that you provide your staff with the right tools to do their job, you should also take into account the effect that their environment has on their productivity.

Nature Boosts Staff Morale and Productivity

One of the simplest and most beneficial ways of boosting staff morale as well as their productivity is to integrate nature into their working environment. According to research, people that work in close proximity to nature have better concentration, accuracy and are able to remember twenty percent more information.  Bringing nature as well as technology to your working environment then, could ensure that your business stays ahead of the pack in terms of productivity.

Adding Indoor Plants is a Start

Not only do plants and trees improve air quality by releasing oxygen into the air, but they also provide your staff with a connection to the outdoors, albeit a small one.

However, while indoor plants do offer some benefits, there are limits to what you can achieve in a cramped indoor space where natural light is limited. The answer to this problem lies right outside your window.

A Beautiful and Green Outdoor Space Offers Many Benefits

There is a huge difference between a plain green lawn and a green space that is dotted with water features, flowers, trees and comfortable seating areas. One is monotonous and uninspiring; the other is pleasing to the eye whilst offering many ways to unwind in the form of relaxation and even exercise.

A recent study conducted in the Netherlands and the UK; found that office landscaping that utilized non work-related green features like plants, increased worker productivity. By transforming the outdoor environment of your office space into a green and pleasant area, your staff can benefit in many ways. Not only will you afford them with a picturesque view from their office window, but you can also encourage them to exercise by providing them with winding paths and scenic routes.

In addition, green spaces can also be used for staff meetings and team-building exercises, both of which will help to improve the morale of your staff. A survey conducted in 2013, by Mind, discovered that 60% of workers work harder when their bosses make an effort to improve their mental wellbeing
