About Me
Football field maintenance

When I tell people that I'm the landscaper who looks after our team's football field they are really impressed, and a little jealous. I don't think they know how much work it is though - it's definitely trickier than keeping your backyard looking green. Not only does my football field need to look lush, it also needs to be perfectly even so that the ball doesn't bounce at crazy angles, and not so soft that the players boots sink in. I need to keep up with all of the latest tricks that landscapers have, and I write these up here so that everyone can give them a try on their own fields.

Tips to Avoid Damage & Loss Charges When You Hire a Generator

Brad Craig

Generators are perfect as a both a primary and temporary or emergency power solution, depending on your specific needs. Once you hire a generator unit, you will be responsible for ensuring that it stays in good condition. As per the terms of your contract with the generator hire company, you will find yourself liable for damages and loss.

To avoid having to pay an extra amount of money to cover repair costs, here are some tips to keep in mind when you hire a generator

Find Prime Location

It is always recommended that you place your generator unit outside. Wherever you choose, ensure that there is enough space around the generator to allow for proper ventilation. You will also want to ensure that the area is dry. You should avoid using the generator in an area where there are highly combustible materials.

Ensure Site Security

Generators are quite expensive, and this cost factor is probably one of the primary reasons behind you opting for generator hire rather than buying your own. Theft and vandalism are not uncommon, and the best way to protect the rental unit is by ensuring that you have adequate security measures in place.

Safely Install & Operate

Anyone lacking the necessary skills to set up and operate the generator hire unit has no business doing any of it. This is as much about the safety of everyone around as it about preventing possible damage to the generator.

Consider a generator hire package that includes a skilled and experienced operator from the company. If you choose to leave that responsibility to someone else, ensure that whoever you choose is up to the task. If possible, ensure that it is an electrician or someone with a solid and practical understanding of electrical work.

Watch the Weather

Even if it's a slight drizzle, you will need to make necessary arrangements to ensure that the generator is always dry. Exposing the unit to wet conditions can quickly cause short circuiting which is not a serious safety risk to everyone, but it can cause serious damage to the equipment. If left unchecked, a short circuit can quickly escalate into a fire that may consume the generator or at the very least cause severe damage to the unit.

Before agreeing to commit to a generator hire contract, ensure that you understand the company's policy on equipment damage and loss. Whatever those terms may be, the highlighted tips will help with preventing this damage and loss.
